The incident reportedly took place in the township of Yonghe, which is in Anyang County of Central China’s Henan Province, and was witnessed by several nearby residents.

The victims had been talking about business matters outside the local Yonghe clinic when they fell through the ground.

The video shows the couple barely has time to react as the ground caves in beneath them.

Shocked witnesses can be seen rushing to help the couple, who miraculously survived and were found alive and well at the bottom of the pit.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and treated the sinkhole's victims before taking them to hospital.

The pair are understood to be in a stable condition.

The sinkhole is said to have been triggered by severe flooding last month, which caused excess groundwater to erode the soil under the road.

The thin surface then cracked under the weight of the van and the two victims.

Reports said the road was sealed off and repaired, and it has since been reopened to the public.
